HEPL submits proposal to extend the proposed Jagadishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra gas pipeline

H-Energy Private Limited (HEPL) has submitted a proposal to the PNGRB to extend the proposed Jagdishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra gas pipeline by 80 km to Contai in West Bengal, in order to evacuate gas from its proposed Digha LNG Terminal. Earlier, HEPL had proposed the Contai-Paradip Natural Gas Pipeline Project to transfer regasified liquefied natural gas (R-LNG) from the Digha terminal to markets in West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar. However, on July 15, 2016, the PNGRB issued a notice deciding to annul the entire bidding process for the pipeline on the grounds that the project was not found to be sustainable on a stand-alone basis, based on the transportation tariff quoted by a complainant (undisclosed). The issue is now pending before a dispute settlement tribunal.
