Foundation stone laid for multimodal terminal at Sahibganj

The foundation stone of the multimodal terminal at Sahibganj, Jharkhand, was laid on April 6, 2017. The terminal is expected to entail an investment of Rs 4.67 billion and will have a cargo handling capacity of 2.24 million tonnes per annum on completion in 2019. The Sahibganj terminal is the second (of three) multimodal terminal to be constructed on National Waterway (NW)-1. The other two terminals are being constructed at Varanasi and Haldia. The terminals are being developed under the Jal Marg Vikas project.
