TRAI releases consultation paper on the Regulatory Principles of Tariff Assessment

TRAI has released a consultation paper on the Regulatory Principles of Tariff Assessment. According to TRAI, there is a need to review potential anti-competitive practices, set out clearly defined standards of competitive conduct, and explore appropriate regulatory tools to address such concerns. Through the consultation paper, TRAI has sought stakeholder views on whether tariff offers made by telecom operators are transparent enough and whether the current definition of non-discrimination is adequate. Further, the regulator has sought views on the issues surrounding promotional offers as these need to be clearly defined.
