The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has decided to step in to resolve the issues plaguing Ratnagiri Gas and Power Private Limited’s (RGPPL) 1,967 MW Dabhol gas-based project in Maharashtra. It is expected to expedite the demerger of the LNG regasification terminal and the power project. Besides, steps will be taken to resume the power purchase agreement between Indian Railways (IR) and RGPPL. The PMO is also planning to ask the Maharashtra government to waive the transmission charges and losses as well as certain taxes imposed on the project, to increase its viability.
