New railway lines proposed by MoR

The MoR has proposed the development of new railway lines to link New Delhi and Kolkata in India with Kathmandu in Nepal to strengthen the cross-border connectivity between the countries and plans to implement them once the Nepal government signs an MoU for engineering surveys. The MoR has approved the development of the 58.5 km Thyat Hamira-Sanu new line rail project in Rajasthan at an estimated cost of Rs 2.62 billion. Land acquisition has already been completed and tenders have been approved. The project aims to improve the transportation of limestone to steel companies and is expected to be completed in 2018.
