MoD hands over land for Pune airport expansion

The Ministry of Defence has handed over 15.84 acres of land to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the Pune airport expansion project. The sanction for the expansion was granted by the former in October 2015. With this, the entire land for the project has been acquired. The project includes the expansion of the existing civil enclave at Pune airport (Lohegaon) at an investment of Rs 4.09 billion. The scope of work includes the construction of a new integrated terminal building, the reconstruction of an old terminal building, the modification of the existing expanded terminal building, airside and cityside development and other associated works. The project is expected to be completed in a period of 36 months from the date of commencement.
