Indian ports handled 586.29 mt of traffic during April-December 2016

During the first eleven months (April-February) of the current fiscal year (2016-17, Indian major ports handled 586.29 million tonnes (mt) of traffic, compared to 550.45 mt in the corresponding period of 2015-16, registering an increase of 6.51 per cent. Kandla port handled the maximum traffic at 96.34 mt, followed by Paradip port (80.61 mt) and Mumbai port (57.57 mt). In terms of growth, Mormugao port reported the maximum increase (60.85 per cent), followed by Paradip port (17.22 per cent) and New Mangalore port (11.79 per cent).
