DIAL seeks environment clearance for airport expansion

As per reports, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has sought environmental clearances for the Delhi airport expansion project. The project, for which the terms of reference were granted in November 2016, involves the expansion of the airport at an investment of Rs 160 billion. The project will enhance passenger handling capacity from the existing 62 million passengers per annum (mppa) to 109 mppa and cargo handling capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 2.2 mtpa. The project scope includes the expansion of existing terminals and the construction of the fourth terminal, expansion of landside facilities, airside facilities (such as runway, taxiways, aprons and other aeronautical facilities), cargo facilities, and other miscellaneous works.
