The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has notified a draft order for the determination of forbearance and floor prices of renewable energy certificates (RECs) for the control period starting April 1, 2017. As per the draft, the CERC has suggested the forbearance and floor prices of solar RECs at Rs 2,500 per MWh and Rs 1,000 per MWh respectively. The respective prices for non-solar RECs are proposed to be fixed at Rs 2,900 per MWh and Rs 1,000 per MWh. The proposed prices are significantly lower than the prevailing forbearance and floor prices of solar RECs at Rs 5,800 per MWh and Rs 3,500 per MWh respectively and those of non-solar RECs at 3,300 per MWh and Rs 1,500 per MWh respectively.
