Lucknow metro receives additional Rs 2.5 billion assistance from centre

The Ministry of Urban Development has released an additional Rs 2.5 billion for the Lucknow metro project. Earlier in 2016, the ministry had released Rs 3 billion towards the project, taking the total assistance so far to Rs 5.5 billion. The 23 km metro is estimated to cost Rs 69.28 billion. Of this, the central government will provide Rs 10.03 billion as its share of equity, Rs 2.97 billion is sub-ordinate debt and Rs 35 billion is loan assistance from the European Investment Bank. The state is responsible for mobilising the remaining Rs 21.28 billion.
