Amritsar BRT system inaugurated

The Amritsar bus rapid transit (BRT) project in Punjab has been inaugurated. It involves the development of a 31 km long BRT system in the city. Three routes are being developed under the project: the Atari Road-ISBT to India Gate route (12 km), the Jalandhar Road-ISBT to MCA Gate route (6 km) and the Verka Road-ISBT to Verka route (13 km). The project has been implemented by the Punjab Bus Metro Society on behalf of the Punjab government at an investment of Rs 4.95 billion. Work on the project had commenced in February 2014.
