Following the launch of the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has announced that the quantum of levy for funding the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) will be determined and notified regularly on the basis of overall requirement, seating capacity and routes where the flights are to be operated. The levy will be charged on every departure on major air routes including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata. However, departures on routes falling in Category II/IIA under the route dispersal guidelines and those using small aircraft with less than 80 seats (irrespective of the route) will be exempt.
