Foundation stone laid for the fifth oil berth at Jawahar Dweep

The Mumbai Port Trust laid the foundation stone for the fifth oil berth at Jawahar Dweep in Mumbai Harbour on November 7, 2016. The project, entailing an investment of Rs 8.11 billion, will have a capacity of 22 mtpa. The project cost will be shared by BPCL and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited. The terminal is expected to be commissioned by March 31, 2019. The project involves the construction of civil structures including a berthing dolphin, a mooring dolphin and a 2.4 km approach trestle up to Jawahar Dweep, a submarine pipeline 4 km in length and 42 inches in diameter from Jawahar Dweep to Pir Pau, fire fighting systems, etc.
