Visakhapatnam port extends port concession charges to container vessels

The Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) has granted approval to extend the concession in port dues and pilotage charges to container vessels berthed at the Visakha Container Terminal. A concession of 35 per cent will be extended to vessels of less than 50,000 gross registered tonnage (GRT). Earlier, the port offered 25 per cent rebate to existing container vessel operators. VPT has also extended a 50 per cent rebate to container vessels of GRT above 50,000 tonnes. Further, the port trust has also offered a rebate of 55 per cent on port dues and pilotage charges for new container vessels coming to the port with direct connectivity to other foreign ports, irrespective of carrying capacity. The rebate has been given till March 31, 2017.
