The Ministry of Coal (MoC) has invited applications from state generation companies for the allotment of seven coal blocks with indicated coal reserves aggregating 4,854.12 mt. The coal blocks are Deocha-Pacham (2,102 mt) in West Bengal, Jadunathpur (525 mt) in Odisha, Ghogarpalli and dip side of Ghogarpalli (1,163 mt) in Odisha, Pokharia Paharpur (584.25 mt) in Jharkhand, Behraband North Extension in Madhya Pradesh (174.87 mt), and North Kathara Phase I and Phase II underground (305 mt) in Jharkhand. Meanwhile, the generating companies are West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited, Karnataka Power Corporation Limited, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited. These applications are to be submitted by October 24, 2016.
