IR to establish aluminium coach manufacturing facility in Kerala

IR is planning to establish an aluminium coach manufacturing factory at Palakkad in Kerala. The tender for the factory, to be built under the PPP mode, is awaiting MoR approval. The decision has come into effect after the successful trials of Spainish Talgo coaches which are made of aluminium. Announced in the 2008-09 railway budget, the factory has seen the light of day after almost eight years.
