The Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) has approved the implementation of highway projects worth Rs 69.62 billion ($1.04 billion) under the Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal (BBIN) road initiative. These involve the development of the 115 km Ukhrul-Tolloi-Tadubi highway (at an estimated cost of Rs 15.4 billion), the 138 km Kohima-Kedima Kring-Imphal four-lane road (Rs 18.74 billion), the 110 km Impal-Moreh road, the 112 km Siliguri-Mirik-Darjeeling road (Rs 1 billion) and the 60 km Kolkata-Bangaon-Bangladesh border road (Rs 8.7 billion). National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited will be implementing the projects under the BBIN initiative and the preparation of DPRs is in progress.
