The foundation stone for the Navi Mumbai International Airport Project, Phase I, is likely to be laid by end-October 2016. Meanwhile, the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra is expected to commence preparatory works for the project by mid-October 2016. This includes the mobilisation of resources, machinery for cutting the Ulwe hill and diverting the Ulwe river, etc. However, infrastructure works will commence only after the foundation stone has been laid. Currently, the financial bid for the selection of a strategic partner for developing the project is in the final stage.
