BSNL and MTNL to provide Wi-Fi services at 100 tourist spots

BSNL and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), in association with the telecom ministry, will provide Wi-Fi facilities at 100 tourist destinations across the country, to be identified within the next six months, and will include world heritage sites, . BSNL and MTNL will provide the service for a period of seven years with the Ministry of Tourism bearing the operational cost for the first three years. However, a decision on charging for the Wi-Fi service, which is expected to be free for the first few minutes, is yet to be taken.
