The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) in Maharashtra has set up a temporary biomethanation plant in Santacruz (East) to process wet waste. The plant has a capacity to process 1 metric tonne of wet waste per day and will generate electricity which will be used to power 40 street lights on Windsor Lane. The project will not only reduce the cost of transporting the garbage to the dumping ground, but will also reduce the electricity bills. The plant, which is based on the DRYAD™ technology, has been set up by Organic Recycling Systems Private Limited.
