TRAI issues consultation paper on SUC for ISPs

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a consultation paper seeking to bring spectrum usage charge (SUC) for internet service providers (ISPs) under the revenue-sharing regime. The regulator has sought stakeholder comments on whether an SUC based on the percentage of adjusted gross revenue (AGR) should be introduced for ISPs or the existing formula be continued. Further, TRAI has also invited industry views on whether the percentage of AGR should be uniform for all ISP licences or different, based on factors such as revenue and spectrum holding.
