NMPT invites global bids for LNG terminal

The New Mangalore Port Trust  invited global expression of interest bids for setting up the Mangalore liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on August 25, 2016. The last date for submission of bids is September 22, 2016. The scope of work includes design, engineering, financing, procurement, construction, operation, maintenance and transfer of an LNG terminal capable of handling 3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) for a concession period of 30 years. The central government has asked that work on the project be expedited  to enable commissioning by June 2017, though the scheduled commissioning was for end-2018.
