The MoCA, the Maharashtra government and the Airports Authority of India have signed a tripartite MoU, a step forward in the launch of the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) in the state. Under the MoU, the Maharashtra government has agreed to provide the concessions required from state governments for the RCS. Besides, it also plans to fast-track the development of 10 airports, at Shirdi, Amravati, Gondia, Nashik, Jalgaon, Nanded, Solapur, Kolhapur, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. Of these, works at the Shirdi and Sindhudurg airports are currently in progress and likely to be completed by November 2016 and May 2017 respectively.
