The Uttar Pradesh government has commenced construction work on a 20 mld capacity sewage treatment plant (STP) in Vrindavan. The STP will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 400 million. The treated wastewater from the STP will be supplied for industrial use through a 9 km pipeline, which will be laid from Laxmi Nagar to the Gokul barrage and further to the Mathura refinery. An MoU to this effect has been signed between the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) and IOCL.
