Bharti Airtel has rolled out 4G advanced carrier aggregation (CA) services in Bengaluru. The technology will combine the 2300 MHz time division long term evolution (LTE) and 1800 MHz frequency division duplexing LTE bandwidth capacities to enable 4G data speeds of up to 135 Mbps. The roll-out is a part of Airtel’s network transformation programme, Project Leap. Earlier, the operator had deployed the CA technology in the Kerala and Mumbai circles. Under Project Leap, Airtel has also upgraded 9,000 sites and optimised another 30,000 sites in its network. The sites were selected on the basis of feedback received from subscribers through Airtel’s Open Network initiative, launched in June 2016.
