PFC releases a report on operational study of ten selected discoms

The Power Finance Corporation (PFC) has released a report on the operational study of ten selected discoms where aggregate technical and commercial losses have reduced in the last five years. The discoms studied are Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Limited, Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited, Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited, Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited, Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited, Hubli Electricity Supply Company Limited, Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited and West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited. Some of the key recommendations of the study are the segregation of agricultural load from rural feeders, the setting up of high voltage distribution systems (HVDS) or aerial bunched cables in theft-prone areas, increase in the size of conductors, the installation of new distribution transformers, among others.
