Jindal Saw and Essar Steel get Rs 3.05 billion order from GAIL for Auraiya-Phulpur pipeline

GAIL (India) Limited has placed an order worth Rs 3.05 billion with Jindal Saw Limited and Essar Steel for the purchase of 315 km of line pipes for its Auraiya-Phulpur pipeline. This pipeline section is under the 672 km Vijaipur-Auraiya-Phulpur Spurline Project and will carry fuel to fertiliser plants in Bihar that have been shut down due to the lack of fuel supply. The Auraiya-Phulpur pipeline is also one of the main feeder lines of the Phulpur-Haldia pipeline project, called the “energy highway” (Urja Ganga) of eastern India. Tenders for pipeline laying works and for the procurement of line pipes for the Gorakhpur spurline have already been floated. GAIL is planning to start construction works in these sections from October 2016. The pipeline is expected to be completed by December 2018.
