The Goa government has extended the request for proposal bid submission date for the development of the Mopa International Airport from July 25, 2016 to August 25, 2016. The state had shortlisted the consortium of Essel Infraprojects Limited (EIL) and Zurich Airport for the project. However, Zurich Airport has exited the consortium and has been replaced by Incheon International Airport, which will bid for the project with EIL. Meanwhile, Voluptas had requested the bid extension on the grounds that it was late in participating in the bidding process as it was earlier denied security clearance by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The foundation stone for the project is likely to be laid in September 2016.
