CCEA accords approval to NLC for Ghatampur coal-based plant in Uttar Pradesh

The CCEA has accorded approval to Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) for the setting up of the 1,980 MW Ghatampur coal-based plant in Uttar Pradesh. Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited, a joint venture (JV) between NLC and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, will implement the project. The TPP entailing an estimated cost of Rs 172.38 billion will comprise three units that are likely to be commissioned within 52 months, 58 months and 64 months from the starting date respectively. Further, the MoC has allotted the Pachwara South coal block in Jharkhand for the plant. Most of the power generated will be supplied to Uttar Pradesh.
