Sewage treatment plant proposed near Ghiyasuddin Haider canal in Lucknow

The Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (UPJN) has proposed the development of a 120 mld capacity STP near Ghiyasuddin Haider canal in Lucknow. The canal, spanning a length of 18 km, carries sewage from the Rajajipuram, Charbagh, Mawaiya, Rajendra Nagar and Aishbagh colonies, parts of Hazratganj near the governor’s house, the PWD office, K.D. Marg and Lohiya Path in Lucknow. UPJN is planning to set up the STP using a new technology which is expected to cost around Rs 2.47 billion. The expenditure finance committee under UPJN has already sanctioned the project cost. Construction work is likely to commence by October 2016.
