DoT has decided not to allocate the 470-582 MHz spectrum band for commercial deployment of TV White Space technology. DoT has also stated that this spectrum band will not be delicensed and the government will put it up for auction when the ecosystem for this band is developed. This comes after the Cellular Operators Association of India urged DoT to inform mobile operators in advance of any government decision to delicence television broadcast spectrum in the 470-698 MHz band before releasing the auction rules for sale of 4G spectrum in the 700 MHz band.
