MoCA has agreed to provide funds to the tune of Rs 4 billion for the upgradation of seven airports in Uttar Pradesh. Airports in Agra, Allahabad and Kanpur will be upgraded with funds from MoCA, under the RCS. The upgradation works will be completed in a period of one and a half months. The state government has provided Rs 2 billion for the development of Kushinagar airport and the work, which is likely to be completed by 2017, is being executed by RITES Limited. A committee has been set up to carry out a feasibility study for developing no-frills airports in Meerut, Faizabad and Moradabad. Meanwhile, MoCA has sought a no-objection certificate from the Ministry of Defence for the construction of an airport at Jewar.
