Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited (NTBCL), operator of the DND Flyway, has announced two dedicated radio frequency identification (RFID) lanes (one in each direction) for its silver RFID tag users, which will enable faster passage through the toll plaza. RFID tag users will not need to halt at the pay axis but can zip through the toll plaza with ease. The company has also deputed “on-ground” teams to install RFID tags and recharge existing/ charge new tags on the spot to aid its users.
NTBCL is a public limited company that is responsible for development, construction, operation and maintenance of the DND Flyway on a build-own-operate-transfer basis. The DND Flyway was conceptualised to provide the growing population of Delhi and Noida an alternative route to cross the Yamuna river. The flyway, an outcome of innovative technical and financial engineering, has been built with due care for environmental concerns. It has been supported by Indian and international engineers, contractors, operators and investors. A citizens committee was formed to oversee the requisite environmental safeguards during construction, a feature pointed out by the World Bank as being the first of its kind in the world.
