In the past month, the Nifty Infrastructure Index rose 5.65 per cent , beating the broad Nifty-50, which rose 4.78 per cent. The best performers were Larsen & Toubro (+16.4 %), Tata Communications (+12.6%) and Voltas Limited (+12.3%).
Eight core sectors contribute 38 per cent to the index of industrial production. Overall, core sectors expanded 2.7 per cent in 2015-16 year-on-year over 2014-15. The best performances came from fertiliser (+11.3%), electricity (+5.2%), coal (+4.6%), and cement (4.6%).
