Powergrid connects 1,200 kV substation at Bina to national grid

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) has connected the 1,200 kV substation at Bina in Madhya Pradesh to the national grid. The project consists of two 1,200 kV bays with 1,200 kV single-circuit and double-circuit test lines of 1 km each. The substation has been set up under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode with the support of the Central Power Research Institute and the CEA. The ultra-high voltage alternating current substation is based on indigenous technology and its principal contractors are Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Crompton Greaves Limited and Toshiba.
