DoT clarifies spectrum trading rules for buyers and sellers

For spectrum trading rules, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has clarified that it will only indicate the status of dues of the seller, but the buyer will need to do its own due diligence. DoT has further stated that the seller needs to clear all dues, including a one-time spectrum charge in the service area where the deal is intended. In addition, the spectrum acquired through trading will be treated as that procured through auctions, which means that the SUC applicable at auctions will apply to the trading deal. The seller will be responsible for meeting the roll-out obligations associated with the spectrum until the date of trade of bandwidth.
