Chhattisgarh State Budget 2016-17 provides Rs 1.26 billion for airports

The Chhattisgarh State Budget 2016-17 has made a provision of Rs 1.26 billion for the expansion of Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur and the upgradation of the airstrip at Raigarh airport. AAI will take up runway extension/resurfacing work as well as expansion of the apron to make it suitable for Category C aircraft. The current runway length of 2,286 metres will be extended by 965 metres. Tenders for the extension works will be floated by August 2016. AAI will also expand passenger amenities at the airport’s integrated terminal.
