Talgo delivers nine passenger coaches to Indian Railways

Spanish firm Talgo has delivered nine passenger coaches to Indian Railways. The new coaches are capable of running at speeds of 160-200 km per hour (kmph) on existing tracks. The first trial run will be performed between Bareilly and Moradabad at a maximum speed of 115 kmph for an oscillation test. The second trial run will be conducted between Palwal and Mathura at a maximum speed of 180 kmph, while the third trial run will be between Delhi and Mumbai. These coaches are lighter and consume 30 per cent less energy than conventional coaches.
