Director (MD), APM Terminals Pipavav, is an industry expert with immense experience in the shipping industry across the globe. He has been associated with the A.P. Moller Maersk Group since 1987 and was one of the core team members to set up APM Terminals at The Hague, Netherlands.
Prior to taking over as MD of APM Terminals Pipavav, Pedersen has held a number of key positions at APM. He has served as chief operating officer at Tanjung Pelepas port, Malaysia, and MD at APM Terminals Gothenburg, Sweden. Pedersen has also served on the board of directors at Aqaba Container Terminal, Jordan; APM Terminals Rotterdam; Kingston Container Terminal, Jamaica; Mediterranean Container Terminal, Gioia Tauro, Italy; and Laem Chabang Container Terminal, Thailand. Pedersen is quite optimistic about the port and terminal business in India, with the positive initiatives taken by the government in developing new ports, augmenting existing facilities, mechanising ports, and improving connectivity and logistics.
For Pedersen, his first and foremost priority is employee safety. His commitment to safety in port operations has led him to organise several training programmes for employees and visitors to the port, and for him it is important to ensure that all employees go back to their families safely at the end of the day.

With a master mariner certificate from the Copenhagen Navigation School as well as a diploma in economics and management, Pedersen has also undertaken an executive programme at the London Business School and IMD Switzerland.
Pedersen is committed to improving the operational efficiency at Pipavav by employing the best practices he has observed during his global stints. A strong believer in teamwork, he likes to empower his team and lead by example. In his free time, he likes exploring new countries, cultures and cuisines with his family.
