MoRTH sets a project award target of 10,000 km for 2016-17

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has reportedly set a project award target of 10,000 km for 2016-17. The MoRTH has reportedly already awarded projects worth Rs 1.8 trillion and is likely to award projects worth another Rs 3 trillion by 2017. As per the MoRTH, the national highway construction rate has touched 20 km per day. Meanwhile, the MoRTH has requested the Ministry of Finance to set up a four-member panel for dispute resolution for fast-tracking implementation of stalled projects. Currently, 14 road projects worth Rs 250 billion are stuck due to various issues.
