The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) in Rajasthan and the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) in Karnataka have signed tripartite agreements with various private companies for effective solid waste management in the respective cities. The agreements have been signed under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM). The first agreement has been signed between JMC, IL&FS Environmental Infrastructure and Service Limited (IEISL) and Chambal Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited while the second agreement has been signed between MCC, IL&FS and Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited for converting municipal solid waste (MSW) generated in the cities into compost. According to the agreements, JMC and MCC will ensure delivery of MSW to IL&FS and review the infrastructure and machinery available with IL&FS for ensuring adequacy of infrastructure and quality compliance. Thereafter, the fertiliser companies will discuss production and offtake schedules with IL&FS to ensure 100 per cent offtake of the compost manufactured by the company.
