Idea Cellular and Ericsson sign contract for deployment of LTE network

Idea Cellular has awarded a contract to Ericsson for deploying its long term evolution (LTE) network and upgrading its 2G and 3G infrastructure. The contract covers equipment, software and a range of services, including project management, systems integration and supervisory managed services for 4G, across select circles for two years. The LTE deployment will cover the Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Northeast and Himachal Pradesh circles, which serve over 40 million subscribers. The agreement also includes the transformation of Idea Cellular’s existing mobile radio access and core network infrastructure for 2G across nine circles and for 3G across five circles.
