CCEA approves seven railway projects

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved seven railway projects comprising six railway lines and one rail overbridge (RoB) at an estimated cost of Rs 107.94 billion, on February 17, 2016. These lines are expected to cater to the increased need of both the passenger and freight segments. The projects are the 190 km Chikjajur-Harihar-Hubbali line doubling (Rs 12.94 billion), the 132 km Wardha (Sewagram)-Ballarshah third line (Rs 14.43 billion), the 160 km Ramna-Singrauli line doubling (Rs 26.76 bililon), the 165 km Anuppur-Katni third line (Rs 15.96 billion), the 261 km Katni-Singrauli line doubling (Rs 20.85 billion) and the additional bridge-cum-doubling of Rampur Dumra-Tal-Rajendrapul rail line (Rs 17 billion). Most of the expenditure on these projects will be funded through extra budgetary resources. These projects are expected to be completed by March 2020.
