MoP identifies new UMPPs in five states

The Ministry of Power (MoP) has identified new ultra mega power projects (UMPPs) in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. These projects, which are at various stages of planning, are proposed to be set up at Bijoypatna and Kalahandi in Odisha, Surguja in Chhattisgarh and Niddodi in Karnataka. In Tamil Nadu and Gujarat the sites are yet to be finalised. The MoP is likely to issue fresh request for qualification and request for proposal documents for the Bedabahal UMPP in Odisha and the Cheyyur UMPP in Tamil Nadu following the finalisation of standard bidding documents.
