Coal India Limited (CIL) has auctioned about 14 million tonnes (mt) of coal under a special e-auction to the power sector and other non-power sector consumers. Of this, 10 mt was reserved for the power sector and the remainder for non-regulated sectors. The move aims to facilitate the liquidation of pithead coal stock. As of February 1, 2016, unsold coal with CIL reportedly stood at 42.25 mt.
