The Western Quay-6 berth at Visakhapatnam port commenced commercial operations on January 13, 2016. The project was undertaken by Alba Asia Private Limited, a JV of ABG Ports Private Limited and Louis Dreyfus Armateurs SAS, at an equity ratio of 51:49. The project involved the planning, designing, construction and development of a berth in the northern arm of the inner harbour of the port on a design-build-finance-operate-transfer (DBFOT) basis at an investment of Rs 2.25 billion. The berth has a handling capacity of 6 mtpa.
