Skidmore, Owings & Merrill to design Bengaluru airport’s Terminal 2

Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has commissioned US-based architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP to design Terminal 2 (T2) of the Kempegowda International Airport. The terminal will be constructed in two phases. Phase I will have a capacity of 20 million passengers per annum (mppa) while under Phase II, this will be increased by 15 mppa. In addition, BIAL will expand the existing Terminal 1 to accommodate the growth till Phase I of T2 is completed. Meanwhile, during the year, the company will undertake the construction of a second runway, a parallel taxiway, two cross-field taxiways connecting the new runway to the existing north runway, T2 apron, and upgradation of the existing runway. The construction works are scheduled to be completed by 2021.
