Goa government issues RfP for Mopa International Airport

The Goa government has issued an RfP document to companies shortlisted for the development of the Mopa International Airport Project, for which the last date for bid submission is April 15, 2016. The four shortlisted companies are the GVK Group, the GMR Group, the Airports Authority of India and Essel Infra Mumbai in a JV with Zurich Airports. The successful bidder will be finalised within 90 days of bid submission, after which the concession agreement will be signed with the bidder within 45 days. The project is likely to be commissioned in 2019. The Goa government will not hold any stake in the greenfield airport. Instead it will have board representation with veto powers in the company that will build and operate the airport.
