The Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 50 million to the Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation for the Vijayawada (Amaravati) Metro Rail Project Phase I. The project involves the development of a 26.03 km long metro rail system in Vijayawada at an estimated investment of Rs 68.23 billion. The project involves the development of two corridors: Corridor 1 (12.76 km), connecting the Pandit Nehru Bus Terminal (PNBT) to Penamaluru linking to the capital city of Amaravathi, and Corridor 2 (13.27 km), connecting PNBT to Nidamanuru providing connectivity to Gannavaram airport.
